About your role

In your role, you will be part of the Impact Innovation team and responsible for achieving our emission reduction targets in scope 1, 2 and 3. To get there, you will develop and implement our emission reduction strategy and report on Fairphone’s progress towards our targets. Since Fairphone does not own a production site but works with manufacturing partners for our products, you will spend most of your time reducing our scope 3 emission. This means that you will be working hand in hand with various Fairphone teams internally, engaging with our suppliers and supporting them on their journey to reduce emissions related to our products.

On top of that, you will manage our climate conscious ambitions for our key products, and drive climate change mitigation solutions that fit our core business and impact agenda. Finally, you will maintain our GHG inventory by accounting for and tracking our scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Also other environmental impacts are not new to you, and you know how to avoid just shifting a problem from one impact area to another.

You are someone who has good knowledge of and experience in developing GHG emissions reduction strategies and implementing company-wide programs in a business environment, also in collaboration with suppliers. You enjoy mobilising others to get behind your agenda. You speak the language of both the private & public sector, and have an ambitious, creative and pragmatic mindset that translates into innovative approaches and high impact.

Your responsibilities

Target setting, strategy and roadmap development on carbon reductions and climate change mitigation.
GHG emission reduction/compensation program development and management in company & supply chain.
Mapping, reporting & monitoring of company & supply chain GHG emissions in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
Ownership of greenhouse gas and climate related KPIs and targets.
Promote Fairphone’s leadership to external stakeholders & generate industry followers.
Provide input to the brand and marketing team as an expert in your area.

Your skills and experiences

You have a minimum of 4 years of experience with GHG emissions accounting in line with the greenhouse gas protocol, developing reduction strategies and driving emission reduction programs within the company and its supply chain.
You have an academic degree, preferably with a postgraduate qualification in a relevant area (environmental management, sustainable business practices).
You have a good understanding of key climate change and GHG emissions challenges and know the relevant industry standards, certifications, and approaches.
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Mandarin is/are a plus!
You have great project management skills and are experienced in working with interdisciplinary project teams.
You are a great motivator and influencer; engaging with suppliers and varying stakeholders to convince them & drive supply chain innovations.
You are great in managing multiple stakeholders and building relationships.
Preferably, you are familiar with working with macOS, Google Workspace, and Basecamp.

Public transport allowance – we fully cover your 2nd class commute from your home to the office.
AND Bike allowance – we support you with a bike purchase of up to €300, and you’ll have a yearly repair budget of up to €80, too!
Seasonal Dutch lessons with a language teacher at the office.
We have our own bouldering wall at the office! You can borrow climbing shoes too and we will provide you with basic training.
There’s a gym and recreation and yoga rooms in the building where you can build healthy habits, stay active and have fun with your colleagues.
