Senior Manager Sustainability Strategy

As the Senior Manager Sustainability Strategy, you will report to the Booking.com Head of Sustainability and lead the team responsible for the development and implementation of strategic sustainability programs at Booking.com and provide sustainability expertise to the team and departments across the business. You will collaborate closely with the Senior Program Manager whose team owns the governance and project management of initiatives within the Booking.com Sustainability team.

In this role, you will ensure that the targets have strong cross-functional operationalisation plans and that your team is set up to best support the relevant departments to deliver against our sustainability targets. You will partner with strategy leads across the business to ensure our plans are well aligned with broader business priorities.

As a people lead, you will manage a high-performing team, developing and coaching your reports on key functional and personal skills as well as contributing to the success of the broader sustainability team.

Responsible

• Provide sustainability (strategy) expertise to the team and departments through a deep understanding of corporate sustainability, strategy development and implementation, trends and stakeholder expectations
• Coach and lead reports on key functional and personal skills and acting as a leader of the wider sustainability team
• Support the ongoing development of the sustainability strategy and targets at Booking Holdings
• Develop and maintain a multi-year strategic plans together with sustainability managers / SMEs and in collaboration with relevant departments, leveraging experience with data and change management
• Build alignment with senior stakeholders (inc. SVPs and VPs) on key recommendations, ensuring delivery of our sustainability targets
• Manage and engage with internal and external stakeholders, acting as spokesperson and subject matter expert

Knowledge & Skills

• Relevant educational qualifications, including a Bachelor or Master’s degree
• Experience in people management, coaching reports on strategy development and delivery
• 8 years of relevant experience in operations and implementation of an organization’s sustainability strategy; experience in similar industry is an advantage
• Expertise in building rapport across business units and corporate functions to influence process or policy changes
• Understands business drivers and operational processes
• Strategic mindset, results-driven and solution-oriented with the ability to identify connections and leverage opportunities across an organization
• Thorough knowledge of current sustainability practices/trends, reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, TCFD, UNGC), rating and ranking agencies and applicable laws and regulation
• Strong familiarity with sustainability processes and procedures
• Collaborative and team-oriented professional able to successfully work across functions and business units and with key stakeholders
• Strong written and communication skills
